A Silent Epidemic That Cannot Wait

A cancer crisis most people do not yet see

We in India are in the midst of a silent epidemic of cancer. The time to act is right now!

India records over 1.4 million new cancer cases every year, and the number is climbing faster than our hospitals can absorb it. Behind each of those numbers is a family that had no warning, a patient who had to stop working, a child who watched a parent get very sick.

What makes it harder is knowing that many of these deaths were avoidable. People are not dying because medicine has run out of answers — they are dying because the right care never reached them. That is the gap Subha Trust was built to fill.

A general public charitable trust with a single conviction

India records over 1.4 million new cancer cases every year, and many of the deaths that follow are avoidable — not because medicine has run out of answers, but because the right care never reached the people who needed it.

We are a public charitable trust founded by five oncologists who felt that clinic work alone was no longer enough. That is the gap Subha Trust was built to fill.

Subha Trust was founded by five oncologists who felt that clinic work alone was no longer enough. Treating patients one at a time inside a hospital is essential, but the problem is larger than any hospital can solve.

For Those Who Need It Most

It lives in communities, in the silence around symptoms people dismiss, in families who assume treatment is not for people like them. Getting to those places requires a different kind of effort.

Grounded in Telangana

So that is where we go. Our work is grounded in Telangana, with reach into communities across India that have been left out of the conversation about cancer care for too long.

Our Work

Meeting people where they are

Subha Trust has been established foremost to help those needy cancer patients who can be cured but cannot get adequate care. Cancer is also a community-wide problem — it can be properly tackled only by engaging the entire community and providing adequate need-based service at a very local level. This is the broader goal of this trust.

Funding Treatment for Those Who Cannot Afford It

A family that cannot pay for chemotherapy still gets it. Subha Trust funds the full course of treatment for patients who are curable but have no means to pay, covering every cycle, every follow-up, every associated cost. The question of whether someone lives or dies should not come down to what is in their bank account.

Specialist Community Outreach

Patients in urban slums and rural areas rarely have access to an oncologist. We arrange specialist visits to exactly those communities, bringing doctors from across India and abroad to screen, advise, and refer people who would otherwise receive no expert attention at all.

Health Education and Prevention

Caught early, many cancers are treatable and often curable. Our awareness programs run in schools, colleges and workplaces across Hyderabad, teaching people to recognise warning signs and act on them quickly. Most people in these sessions have never had this conversation with a doctor before.

Orphanages and Old Age Homes

Our volunteers visit orphanages and old age homes carrying medicines, stationery, computers and practical supplies. They also spend time with children talking about health and what it means to look after your body.

Patient and Family Support Groups

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, the people around them are also affected. Our support groups bring patients and families together with survivors, psychologists, dietitians and social workers, so no one carries this alone.

Employment for the Underprivileged

The Trust also supports employment for physically handicapped and underprivileged individuals, particularly in healthcare settings — because looking after people should extend beyond the immediate patient in front of you.

We hope to grow each of these efforts over time and add new ones as our capacity allows. The work is far from finished. But it has started, and it is going somewhere.

Financing Treatment for Patients in Need

He had a diagnosis and a family that could not afford a single test.

When this boy was twelve, his parents were told he had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. They sat with that word for days before reaching us, because they had looked at what treatment would cost and could not see how it was possible. Subha Trust covered the full course of treatment, from the first consultation to the last cycle, and made sure he stayed enrolled in school through every month of chemotherapy. He recovered fully. Two years later he topped the Class 12 board examinations across the entire state of Telangana, and has since earned a scholarship to study abroad. His mother still calls us on his birthdays.

Cancer Awareness Meetings

Most people have never spoken to a cancer specialist. We go to them.

Our doctors sit with students, office workers, and neighbourhood residents to talk about cancer plainly. What the warning signs are, which habits increase risk, and when to stop waiting and see someone. The sessions are interactive, not lectures. People ask questions they would never have known to ask before.

Helping Families Get Back on Their Feet

Salma had not worked in fourteen months when she came to us.

Her husband had been through treatment for most of the previous year. By the time he recovered, the family's savings were gone and the tailoring work she used to do had dried up. The Trust gave her a sewing machine and connected her with a local women's group that helped her rebuild her client base. Within three months she had steady income again — the kind of recovery that does not show up in a medical report.

Visiting Orphanages

A day of books, medicines and a conversation about staying well.

Our volunteers go to orphanages with supplies the homes ask for: medicines, reading materials, equipment. They also spend time with the children, talking about health in a way that is age-appropriate and honest. Children who understand their bodies early carry that knowledge for decades.

Keeping cancer on the agenda, because public attention saves lives.

We work with journalists and community leaders to make sure cancer prevention and early detection remain part of the public conversation in Hyderabad. The louder this message gets, the sooner people act when something feels wrong.
